The Organic Apprentice

sowing the seeds of learning!

ACORN Farm Tour Day

On Wednesday, June 19th, Aaron and I went on a day trip around New Brunswick to tour two organic farms. The first was Jemseg River Farm and the second was Goodspring Farm. Both were very interesting and had their own strengths.

Jemseg River Farm, located 10 minutes from Gagetown, has been under the current ownership since 2009. They have 10 acres in use for crops and employ the help of 5 apprentices!

Goodspring Farm is located on Keswick Ridge and has about 8 acres of crops. Their big focus is on seedling potatoes. This means they have put a great deal of effort in order to be certified to produce potatoes for seed. They have one apprentice.
